Let’s start with what it isn’t.
Oncology massage is NOT a specific technique.
And, most importantly, it is not part of basic training in most massage therapy schools.
Where oncology massage distinguishes itself is in the knowledge of the therapist. An oncology massage-trained therapist will be familiar with cancer treatments, their side effects and how to layer that knowledge on their individualized approach to massage.
Oncology Massage Canada is part of a growing network of educational programs. Our courses offer the time and place to practice a hands-on approach based on a framework of knowledge and critical thinking.
Rates of both cancer and cancer survivorship are growing. Massage therapists in all work settings need to be prepared for a client who has been impacted by cancer treatments.
We welcome new and experienced massage therapists to our training.
Bring your curiosity and your willingness to learn!
