Introduction to Oncology Massage

Designed for anyone who wants to meet the growing demand for knowledgeable, oncology massage-aware practitioners.

Experienced massage therapists and those new to the field will leave feeling confident in enhanced intake skills and how to provide safe massage to someone affected by cancer.

DURATION

2 day in-person training plus 1 hour required reading

LEARNING OUTCOMES

This 2-day in-person course is evidence-based and uses case studies to build a strong knowledge base and apply critical thinking to cover the foundations of oncology massage. Participants will complete the course having learned:

Cancer treatments and their side effects
Massage adaptation for any client affected by cancer
Working with a compromised lymphatic system
Advanced intake skills for a medically complex client
Revisiting the therapeutic relationship
Client-centred whole person care

Oncology Massage: Advanced Skills

Designed for massage therapists who have a foundation of knowledge and experience working with people affected by cancer, and want to feel confident providing rehabilitative treatments to help restore optimal functioning in their patients.

DURATION

2 day in-person training

LEARNING OUUTCOMES

An evidence-informed 2- day in-person course that further develops a strong skill set to offer rehabilitative treatments for people affected by cancer. Complex case studies provide the basis for working with the multi-layered impact of cancer treatments. Using current research and focused learning labs, this course includes:

Treating clients with metastatic cancer
Breast and chest massage
Massage for head and neck cancer
Scar treatments
Post-radiation massage treatments
